As of April 30, 2016, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has reduced the paperwork requirements for most hazardous waste generators. Hazardous waste generators of any size in most of Minnesota (except those located in Anoka and Scott Counties) are no longer required to send copies of any hazardous waste manifests to the MPCA or the respective county government of the generator, unless explicitly requested. MPCA Policy is Changing: Sub-Slab Vapor Sampling Now Required for New Construction

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s (MPCA) policies regarding vapor intrusion are changing. If pre-construction soil gas samples exhibit volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations exceeding ten times the Intrusion Screening Values (ISVs), the MPCA Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup (VIC) program may require follow-up sampling in addition to installing sub-slab vapor mitigation systems and/or vapor barriers in newly constructed buildings. New requirements may also include sub-slab sampling at discrete locations through the newly constructed slabs.
