议程和演示主题

  • Registration (9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.)
  • Introduction and Overview (9:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.)
  • Construction Vibration Risk Management (10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)

Construction vibrations are a nuisance to owners, contractors, and the general public but are unavoidable in many circumstances. In this presentation, we will look at the options for mitigating risk of vibration damage claims. Pre-construction condition surveys, vibration control plans, and vibration monitors provide a three-phase approach to risk management. We will explore the current technology and methodology for these services along with a discussion of how they can be applied to different projects.

  • Intro to Public Private Partnership (11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

With our infrastructure deteriorating and limited financing available, public owners look to levy the private sector for aid in the financing of our public projects. What does this mean to you and the construction industry as a whole? Come learn the basics of Design Build Finance Operate Maintain (DBFOM) and Public Private Partnerships.

  • Lunch(下午12:00至下午1:00)
  • 仪器(下午1:00至下午2:00)

Technological advancements have allowed instrumentation to fulfill a growing demand for remotely collected data on construction projects. This means that it is easier, smoother, and (mostly) cheaper than ever to get data into the hands of decision makers throughout the entire lifecycle of any given project. This makes for a more efficient, quicker, informative, and safer project for all stakeholders. Let’s rewind, what do we even mean by instrumentation? Instrumentation includes any sensor installed on a site or structure that monitors conditions over time. What type of conditions? Conditions range from geologic (pressure, settlement, subsidence) to structural (strain, tilt, displacement, dynamic response) to environmental (weather, water level, particulate levels) to visual (jobsite cameras) and much more. We will further explore instrumentation, the variety of conditions monitored, examples on a variety of projects, new emerging technologies, and where we foresee other future opportunities to sprout out of. All indications suggest a strong trend of more instrumentation on more projects; perhaps yours is next.
